Pupils in Class 4 at Blessed John Duckett Catholic Primary School in Tow Law have been putting their design and technology skills into practice as they begin work on creating their own model bird hides.

The project has seen children carefully plan, measure and construct their designs, applying the knowledge gained through their research to develop shelters that are strong, practical and well-camouflaged. Throughout the process, pupils have been encouraged to think about how bird hides are designed to blend into their surroundings while providing a suitable space for observing wildlife.

The activity has given children the opportunity to develop a range of important skills, including problem-solving, measuring, planning and construction, while also exploring how design can be influenced by the natural environment.

Class 4 has made an excellent start to the project, and excitement is already building as the models begin to take shape. Everyone at Blessed John Duckett Catholic Primary School is looking forward to seeing the finished bird hides over the coming weeks.
