Welcome to Blessed John Duckett Catholic Primary School

At Blessed John Duckett, children grow, learn and thrive in a caring and supportive environment where every pupil is genuinely known and valued. Our school sits at the heart of Tow Law, and our close knit community creates a sense of belonging that helps children feel confident, happy and ready to achieve their best.

We are proud to offer nursery provision for 3 and 4 year olds, giving our youngest children a calm, engaging and well resourced space to begin their learning journey. Our Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) room is bright, welcoming and designed to spark curiosity from day one.

Outside, our expansive school grounds give children the freedom to explore, play and learn in the fresh air. Whether they are investigating nature, being creative or simply enjoying the space, the outdoors plays an important part in school life.

Blessed John Duckett is more than just a school it is a place where children feel safe, supported and inspired. It is where friendships grow, confidence develops and a lifelong love of learning begins.

What We Get Up To at School – By Ryder

Over the year, as a school we do lots of trips out to places like Newcastle castle and the Beach. Every term we have a school disco, sometimes we dress up! There's always a tuck shop and activities to do like decorating a biscuit, name the teddy. In the summer term we have a summer fair.

A Fantastic Trip to Newcastle Castle

We had a fantastic day at Newcastle Castle on Friday, with lots of exciting learning and fun for all year groups! Reception and KS1 explored the different parts of the castle, discovering how it was built to defend against enemies. They also learnt about the various jobs people had in the castle, including the very important role of a food taster—who checked meals to make sure no one was trying to poison the king! Meanwhile, KS2 delved into the history of the Normans, learning why the castle was built and how it was used. They explored the weapons used by knights and even had the chance to reenact a battle, bringing history to life in a truly memorable way.
