A Fantastic Trip to Newcastle Castle

We had a fantastic day at Newcastle Castle on Friday, with lots of exciting learning and fun for all year groups! Reception and KS1 explored the different parts of the castle, discovering how it was built to defend against enemies. They also learnt about the various jobs people had in the castle, including the very important role of a food taster—who checked meals to make sure no one was trying to poison the king! Meanwhile, KS2 delved into the history of the Normans, learning why the castle was built and how it was used. They explored the weapons used by knights and even had the chance to reenact a battle, bringing history to life in a truly memorable way.
