Class 1 at Blessed John Duckett enjoyed a special visit from Claire, a Community Police Support Officer, who came along with her police dog, Ben. Claire spoke to the pupils about the many different roles within the police force and explained the skills and dedication required to become a dog handler.
The children learned how police dogs play an important part in supporting officers, from detecting substances to assisting in searches. Ben, a lively puppy currently training to become a sniffer dog, quickly became the star of the day. Pupils were delighted to meet him and even had the chance to give him a gentle pet.
This memorable visit gave Class 1 a valuable insight into the work of the police and highlighted the special bond between officers and their dogs.
