Year 5 and 6 at Blessed John Duckett took part in UK Parliament Week, gaining a deeper understanding of how parliament works and why it plays such an important role in our country. Pupils explored the significance of Budget Day, particularly how decisions made in parliament can impact schools and education. They also discovered that there are 650 Members of Parliament representing communities across the UK.

To conclude the week, pupils stepped into the world of democracy by writing their own election manifestos and campaigning to become members of the Blessed John Duckett School Council. This hands‑on experience gave children the chance to see democracy in action, encouraging leadership, teamwork, and a sense of responsibility within the school community.
