Blessed John Duckett is proud to have an active, keen, and engaged Mini-Vinnies group.

The Mini-Vinnies are an international Christian voluntary network that is dedicated to putting into practice the teachings of the Gospels and all aspects of Catholic social teaching.

Our small group, made up of a mix of children from faith and non-faith backgrounds, is instrumental in the local outreach the school does, including:

  • raising money for different causes through a range of different activities.
  • selling cakes at the 'Big Brew' Fairtrade coffee mornings
  • organising the children in the school to collect effectively for the local food bank.
  • organising and selling knick-knacks at the school summer fair to raise money for charity.
  • planning, resourcing and leading Lenten activities for the whole school to participate in on the run-up to Easter

...and a range of other activities too.

An offshoot of our Mini-Vinnies group has formed an inter-school council to examine the impact that outreach has on others.  They work closely with another school, St Chads - part of the Parish-Partnership. This year, they plan to lead their respective schools in taking care of their local environments; visit a foodbank and help prepare and distribute food; build ecumenical links with non-Catholic Christian partners and so much more.

Mini-Vinnies are the unsung heroes of our school - they do so much and are so active in helping our school community live out our Christian mission to help those around us. We are ever so proud of them.
