Class 4 at Blessed John Duckett Catholic Primary School in Tow Law have officially begun their exciting ‘Market Makers’ enterprise project, run by Durham County Council and delivered alongside the owner of The Glo House in Consett.
The Egg Drop Challenge: A Creative Start
Their first session kicked off with the thrilling Egg Drop Challenge, where pupils worked together to design protective structures to prevent eggs from cracking when dropped. This hands‑on activity encouraged problem‑solving, teamwork, and creative thinking - a perfect introduction to the entrepreneurial journey ahead.
A Ten‑Week Enterprise Experience
Over the coming weeks, Class 4 will:
- Design, create and manufacture their own products
- Learn essential finance, marketing, and sales skills
- Develop teamwork, communication, and business confidence
This engaging programme brings real‑world learning into the classroom and supports pupils to become innovators, creators, and young entrepreneurs.
Preparing for Durham Market
Later in the year, Class 4 will proudly represent the school as they compete alongside other local schools at Durham Market, where they will sell the products they’ve designed and made. This is a wonderful opportunity for children to showcase their creativity and hard work in a real market environment.
We are so proud of the enthusiasm and teamwork Class 4 have already shown.
What an amazing start - we can’t wait to see what they create next!
