
Children across Blessed John Duckett Catholic Primary School in Tow Law enjoyed an action-packed and inspiring World Book Day, filled with creativity, imagination and plenty of reading fun! Every class took part in a full day of book‑themed activities, making this one of our most exciting celebrations yet.
Footy & Booky Quiz With the Premier League and National Literacy Trust
Class 3 kicked off their World Book Day with a fantastic Footy and Booky Quiz, hosted by the Premier League and the National Literacy Trust. The children loved testing their book knowledge, competing as teams and celebrating the joy of reading through football-themed fun!
Creative Character Making and Scavenger Hunts
Class 3 didn’t stop there—pupils made their own book characters, designed front covers, and even took part in a book scavenger hunt around school. They showed brilliant teamwork and enthusiasm throughout the day.
Whole-School Book Activities
Every class took part in a range of exciting reading and craft activities, including:
- Designing book covers
- Making bookmarks
- Writing book reviews
- Exploring stories through creative challenges
The effort, imagination and joy shown by the children were truly wonderful to see.

Each class completed a special World Book Day challenge—
- Class 1: Created amazing potato book characters!
- Class 2: Made fantastic character headbands!
- Class 3: Designed their own unique book characters using paper rolls!
- Class 4: Wrote their very own books—a brilliant celebration of storytelling and writing skills.
