In Blessed John Duckett, we believe that learning a modern foreign language for all children is beneficial for many reasons:
- Children really enjoy learning to speak another language, they become aware of other cultures in the world
- We also believe that the earlier children start to learn another language, the faster the additional language is acquired
- Children are taught French from Year 3 to Year 6 by their class teacher, however children in EYFS and KS1 will hear words from other languages too.
They will learn how to:
- Ask and answer questions
- Communicate in the other language
- Use correct pronunciation and intonation.
- Understand meaning of words
- Understand basic grammar
- Communicate in the other language
