
Pupils from Blessed John Duckett Catholic Primary School in Tow Law have been making the most of an exciting and activity-filled residential visit to Derwent Hill in the Lake District, enjoying a day packed with adventure, teamwork and memorable experiences.
A Day of Challenge and Achievement
The children experienced a fantastic day, taking part in a variety of activities designed to push them beyond their comfort zones. One of the standout highlights was the Death Swing, where pupils showed real courage as they faced their fears and encouraged one another to take part.
Building Teamwork and Confidence
Throughout the day, pupils have been developing key life skills through a range of group activities, including:
- Orienteering
- Low ropes
- Gauge walking
- Kayaking
These experiences have helped to strengthen teamwork, improve communication and build confidence, as pupils worked together to overcome challenges.
Enjoying the Outdoors
The residential has also offered a chance to explore the natural beauty of the Lake District. A walk around Derwent Water gave pupils time to enjoy the scenery and spend quality time together outdoors. During the walk, many enjoyed learning how to skim stones, adding a fun and memorable moment to the day.
A Positive Residential Experience
In addition to the outdoor adventures, pupils have been enjoying lovely food and the opportunity to spend time with friends in a new and exciting environment.
